The beauty of living in Las Vegas full-time is fancy people surround me. After communicating with Reagan Reilly for a couple of months, it was apparent she is the type of person who adds to your life. Her large heart and ability to own up to the truths of her past are amazingly refreshing. Her accomplishments are great, but that has not slowed her down. Not only does she feature dance, blog for a website and house dance here in Las Vegas at the Palomino club, she will be on the cover of the Panda(@PandaMembers1) Calendar. Reagan Reilly is an inspiration to many going through the strip club industry with a good head on her shoulders and sobriety(which puts her at a large advantage).
Keep up with Reagan Rilley on Twitter and check out her website. If you are in Las Vegas do not be shy, go see her at the Palomino Club.
The Adult Webcam Industry Awards were held in January at the Alexis Park Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada(the same week as the AVN Expo). This was the first awards show and conference exclusively for web cam models. They held seminars, had a fan meet and greet day, and networking opportunities specific to the web camming industry and all the vast niches it encompasses. The spectrum of different types of women who choose to webcam is very diverse.
There was no highly common body type like I experience at the AVNs, which was refreshing and surprising at the same time. With roots in the adult industry as a stripper, it was eye-opening to see women who do not fit the stereotypical look for beauty in American society embracing their beauty/sexuality. There is freedom in accepting who we are unapologetically.
Scarlett Black(@scartlettblackes) embraces her ability to find pleasure in pleasing others. If I saw her in a grocery store the last thing I would expect is for her to be apart of the adult industry. The saying “Looks can be deceiving,” was very apparent at the Adult Webcam Awards. Scarlett Black takes part in web camming along with being a phone sex operator and having a “real” job as well. The majority of her client base is in Europe. However, she said safety is her priority especially after already experiencing a foreign stalker on her front door one morning literally. She must be incredible at what she does in order to get a man to cross an ocean and travel thousands of miles just to see her in person. Some people cannot even get a date on a Friday night just to put it all into perspective!
Sammy Brooks(SammyBrooks69) was a porn star who now does cam work from her home in California. She invited Strip Club Journals to the Adult Webcam Awards and was kind and gracious with her time even though she was coordinating the event as well. The work involved in this awards show and convention was global. The awards varied from the Best European Live Web Cam Site, Best Foot Fetish Webcam Show, Best Lesbian Webcam Show, Best Ebony Cam Model, and many more.
Mindi Mink(@MindiMink) is a beautiful woman who is not afraid to let people know she is 47 years old. She is dabbling in girl on girl adult films, while still web camming at the same time. Mindi Mink embodies hope for women in the adult industry to embrace and utilize getting older. Aging in the adult industry may just be something to be embraced and utilized, not something to be ashamed of.
Overall, the Adult Webcam Awards was amazingly informative. The adult industry is not all blondes with fake boobs who work out daily in order to maintain the idea American Society has developed as to what a sexually attractive woman looks like. There is no cookie cutter to sexy in the web cam industry.
A special thank you to Bob Layton(@BobStudio83) owner of Studio 83 for the clothing and shoes.
Acclimating to being in the desert again is amazingly weird. For the first time, here I am single and living alone in a new city with just my puppy. In two months my life has changed and turned upside-down. Where to go from here is the question plaguing me. What do I do for income besides write? Writing has yet to be profitable enough to keep up with my spending habits. Which is a tall order to fill with any one career. Thus, why I have always dabbled in a bit of everything.
The adult industry is amazing in this perspective, because there are so many small niches to be fulfilled. After taking over a year off from sugar and almost two years off from stripping, things are clearer than ever before. I know my own income is the only way I will be truly free of men. Men are fun to play with, but once I gave into sugar monogamy I gave up my power. Funny how that turned out… And how I did not know what was happening to me as it happened. I learned the lesson: Never live above the means in which you can provide for yourself.
Now I am living within my means and within my power once again!
The past few months have been filled with travels, but unlike usual this time I was not just traveling: I was moving. This means I have had no home for this time period(40 days may seem short, but it felt like a whole separate lifetime). People tend to forget the stress of not having the security of a home, real meals, and sleeping in your own bed. Especially, when they are used to you traveling often. People take for granted what they do not know is sacred until it is taken away. I went from having three homes in two different states to homelessness, half by design and half by life lessons and poor choices. And to top it all off, finances had absolutely no part in the equation.
Finally this past weekend, I moved into my own condo in Vegas. This is the first time I have lived alone since I stripped in small town Oregon. It is extremely ironic, after I disappear for over a year to recover from stripping, people still expect the actions of a stripper out of me. In actuality it is the complete opposite. I just want to write and cook casseroles in my pajamas with my puppy at home. I worked for years in small town Oregon from 10pm-2am almost every night to get to where I am today. People do not see the hard work I have put in to be where I am today and often they take my efforts in vain and/or for granted. No I do not want to go out at night to get drunk and talk to people because that feels like stripping with my clothes on. Who wants to work for free?!? I drank mostly to forget stripping and make it the most profitable experience as possible. Why do people who live ordinary lives expect people in the adult industry to not have the desire or need for a little ordinary too?
